Picasso, Exhibition Vallauris, 1956

PABLO PICASSO 1881-1973
Málaga 1881-1973 Mougins (Spanish)

Exhibition Vallauris, 1956

Original Hand Signed and Numbered Linoleum Cut in 5 Colours on Arches vellum paper

This colourful and boldly outlined work is one of the new acquisitions into the gallery and holds within it wonderfully typical Picassian traits of naivety, colour, and fun.
Living in Vallauris for seven years, Picasso himself contributed greatly to the metropolitan and bohemian nature of this community, which also greatly enriched his own works at the time. He designed and made a poster every year for the Vallauris Exposition during his time there and this is his example from the 1956 Exposition. This original linoleum cut is hand signed in blue crayon by the artist "Picasso" in the lower right margin.

It is one of 21 artist's proofs (aside from the numbered edition of 200) printed by Arnera and published by the Association des Potiers de Vallauris.
